Ep. 103 - Failure Isn’t the End - It’s the Shortcut to Success
Here in Tassie, as we approach the winter solstice, the days get shorter, but paradoxically, the coldest days are yet to come. It's a challenging time, with many of us feeling more tired and less energetic. But, rather than being hard on ourselves, it's crucial to approach these feelings with curiosity and self-compassion.
In my earlier years, I would push myself aggressively through these low periods, but it never helped. Through life coaching, I’ve learned to be gentler, asking myself what’s really going on and accepting that it’s okay to feel less energetic sometimes. This shift from a taskmaster mentality to a nurturing approach has made a significant difference.
Today, I want to talk about “Failing Forward.” Failure is often seen as a setback, but it’s actually a crucial part of achieving any significant goal. Reflecting on my past experiences, especially in musical theatre, I realized that the fear of failure taught in our education system can be debilitating. However, true growth comes from embracing failure, learning from it, and continuing to move forward.
Remember, if you’re not failing, you may not challenging yourself enough. Set big goals, expect setbacks, and use them as stepping stones to success. Normalise failure, understand your emotional triggers, and develop strategies to cope and thrive. Your resilience and ability to bounce back are what will ultimately lead you to your goals.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to bet on yourself, this is it. Stop hesitating. Start leading. Fill out this Career Confidence Quiz today.
